Serge Landry
For more than 20 years, Serge Landry has been a strong advocate of social and economic justice. He’s fought to help build a more equitable society for everyday people. He knows the challenges our communities face and he’s standing up to help make life more affordable for you.
In 1999, Serge was hired as a resident attendant at Villa du Repos, a long-term care centre in Moncton. In that role he helped take care of patients and provide them with the support they needed. Serge knows that individuals in care were some of the most vulnerable during the pandemic. When they needed help the most, Justin Trudeau helped Canada’s ultra-rich make record profits. Serge knows that it’s time to ensure every senior can access a high standard of care. He will make sure we improve local health services, and he believes Medicare should be truly universal so everyone can afford their prescription medication, dental care, and vision care with their health card – not their credit card.
Alongside caring for patients, Serge became deeply involved in his union, standing up for secure jobs and safer workplaces. He’s held numerous positions with his union and currently serves as the Canadian Labour Congress as Regional Representative for New Brunswick. Through his union activism, Serge has always fought for human rights, racial justice, pay equity, global justice, anti-harassment, and the importance of well-paying jobs that support families. He’s always worked to incorporate these values into his life, both professionally and personally.
Serge was born and raised in the Moncton area. Married to his wife Shirley, he’s proud to be raising their two sons in our incredible community.
